Alli is just one of the many over the counter (OTC) weight loss products you can buy today. A lot of people are taking it to help them lose weight and it can be great if you aren’t able to get a prescription for other weight loss drugs.
In effect, Alli is a weaker version of Xenical, a prescription-only pill that helps with obesity. It’s the only OTC pill to be approved by the FDA and can be taken by those who are over 18 years old. If you decide to try Alli as an alternative to Xenical, then it’s best you do this with a diet that’s low in fat and calories. And don’t forget to do some exercise too.
How does it work?
It prevents your body from absorbing fat correctly which means your body is taking in less calories. As mentioned before, you should eat foods that are low in fat and you should also eat three times a day. The problem is that if you eat a lot of fat such as butter and cheese, you’ll end up with really horrible side-effects.
What are the side-effects?
Do a quick search on the internet for alli side-effects and you’ll plenty of people complaining of problems such as:-
Greasy farts
Loose stools
Uncontrollable bowl movements.
This is because your body will normally digest fats correctly, but Alli causes the fat to continue through your digestive tract without being broken down. So if you’re on Alli and notice the above problems it means you should reduce your fat intake.
Many people argue that Alli is a waste of money because if you adhere to the diet plan they set out you’ll lose weight on your own.
Is Alli suitable for everyone?
No, you should avoid Alli if you fall into any of the following categories:-
You’re not overweight
You take cyclosporine
You have food absorption problems
You’ve had surgery
You also need to be careful if you’re on any medication that’s for thinning your blood, thyroid disease or diabetes.
.
Conclusion
Apparently you’re supposed to experience weight loss during the first 6 months and if you stop taking it, you’ll simply put the weight back on. Therefore you’ll need to take this into consideration as long term use of Alli will end up costing you quite a lot of money.

I have been curious about how well Alli works for some time now. So glad you did a hub on it. It all boils down to caloric intake. I just need to do two things to get rid of a ferw pounds - 1. excercise (yuck) 2. avoid eating after 8 at night. Thanks so much!
